PHRIX WALK

app for a gps-based soundwalk of Robin Minard (2015)

"Phrix Walk" is a site-specific App for Smartphones und was developed natively for iOS and Android.

The work can be listened to via GPS on the area of the former PHRIX paper-factory in Hattersheim-Okriftel. I developed the apps as contract work for the Canadian sound-artist Robin Minard, who could therefore generate a site-specific composition. His abstract acoustic portrait interweaves sounds and stories of the place with the narrations of people which are associated with the former factory. On the site, the visitors can move independently and thus "explore" their individual composition.

Put into practice in 2015 for the Project "Klangkunst trifft Industriekultur“ (Sound-Art meets Industrial Heritage):
International Sound-Artists were developing installations with text and sound for industrial monuments that create stories of the places. Thus, the works are of an artistic and documentary nature and contribute to the cultural memory of the region. The project was a cooperation between the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain and the KulturRegion FrankfurtRheinMain.

Available for iOS in the App Store and for Android on Google Play.
